About GigaOM’s Mobilize 09: The Future of the Mobile Web

Mobilize 09 is a one-day conference that brings together the thought leaders and practitioners of the mobile web and telecoms ecosystem for talk, demonstrations and debate. “We’ll examine what it means to have wireless broadband speeds at the Gigabit scale and how the explosion of open platforms and hardware beyond traditional handsets create new opportunities, for entrepreneurs, investors and consumers. Join us for a look at emerging devices, from netbooks to smartphones and beyond. Examine the potential presented by application stores and the rapidly expanding variety of mobile tools. Sort through information on users and their needs. We will find the early indicators for opportunity in the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the mobile web. We’ll also identify bumps in the road ahead — and help players in the wireless ecosystem see the opportunities they present.

At Mobilize 09 you’ll be able to network with 50 speakers and 500 delegates. Companies include Dell, Motorola, Sony Ericcson, frog design, Adaptive Path, Intel, ATT and a slew of mobile startups. We have over 40 confirmed speakers to date, including Sanjay Jha the co-CEO of Motorola as our Keynote.”

dotopen launches public beta

Monday, July 27th, 2009

Last Friday, July 24, we introduced the public beta of the dotopen B2B communication platform with an announcement on TechCrunch by Robin Wauters. The post created an avalanche of tweets of people tweeting and retweeting the announcement. In only a couple of hours, there were over 350 tweets (of which +200 retweets on TechCrunch only!).

Our post was the 3rd most popular post on TechCrunch of July 24 out of 23 posts published that day, and only advanced by a post on the announcement of the Apple Tablet and a post on Twitter cracking down some spam accounts (always immensely popular!). Other posts left behind our announcement included posts with news and announcements on Facebook, FriendFeed, Yahoo, Nokia (acquiring our friends at Cellity), Microsoft, Google, Verizon, AOL, and others…

Well, believe it or not but we can live with that as a starter ;-)

1,775 unique visitors from USA, UK, Spain, Germany, India, Canada, the Netherlands, Italy, France and Belgium came to our site during the day. We counted some + 6k pageviews, not bad for a 1st day, no?

In only a couple of hours, we had some 350 companies registered to dotopen.

Thanks to all our friends and followers out there who made this happen and supported us, in the end the dotopen platform is all about… YOU and your organization!

We will keep working, listening to the feedback and suggestions of our members, users, and visitors improving the service and bringing more organizations to use the platform.

Stay tuned and subscribe to our blog feed, more news and announcements to come soon again. You can also follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/dotopen.

dotopen fosters an open business community that values transparency, authenticity and cooperation. If that’s also you, join us today.
