Every day we store more sensitive information (personal and professional) in our phones and we access different services where we have to prove our identity (mobile banking, mobile payments, mail, social networks,...). A big part of our identity, our work and even our money is already inside our phones, and this is just the beginning. We need a reliable way to protect all this information and prove you are really who you say you are. This is even more important taking into account that mobile devices are lost or stolen very often.
The traditional authentication systems are no loger secure because most of the people are not able to memorize a lot of long, different, random passwords and they choose a very simple one (birthday, pet name, four digit PIN...), use it for everything (from Facebook to banking), or even write them down.
Our security solutions identifies an user using his/her unique characteristics (iris, voice, handwritten signature,...) to substitute or complement the password based mechanisms. It means, instead ofsomething only you know or something only you own, we use something only you are.
Biometric technologies are being successfully used in different fields (border control, physical access control, military, crime fighting, ...) but our truly innovation, what really differenciate us from the rest is we don't need hardware specifically designed for the purpose. We use something everybody carries out with themselves: their mobile phones. Our project will bring the high security to the common people, who will be able to use it where and when they need it.
