PICNIC ‘09 will take place Amsterdam from 23 to 25 September 2009 in a unique location, the Westergasfabriek, a former gasworks fabric.

The world of today is one in overdrive. The global economy has reached historic lows. The need for a sustainable world grows more pressing by the day. Exploding urbanization increases poverty and detachment. Information overload creates scarcity of attention. Still, in the midst of all this apparent chaos, countless opportunities are emerging for social, cultural, educational and business entrepreneurs to re-engineer our future.

PICNIC ’09 will cover some of the major and minor challenges that lie ahead from a critical but optimistic point of view. In times of peril and uncertainty, it is the creative and innovative minds that emerge as the leaders of change.

What are the great breakthroughs that will change our lives in the coming decade? How will they heal our economy, our environment and make our lives more liveable? What are the alternative scenarios for our future?

PICNIC ’09 will review our world, economy, society and daily lives.
